America's first city
St. Augustine is the oldest city in the U.S., and Ponce de Leon found it and there he found what he thought to be the Fountain of Youth...Well, I decided I would seek that out, since I was only about 30 minutes away last week when I traveled to Jacksonville. I went to Jax to hear from world renowned wedding photographer--Marcus Bell, from Australia--because it was to be his only speaking engagement in the states in 2009. He was very interesting, but I had to travel south a bit. Check out these photos from the Fountain, and other points of interest on the grounds. I was particularly amazed by the peacocks...mating season was in, and the males were flaunting their beautiful feathers and screeching like monkeys...Totally amazed by the white peacock...I thought that was the female, but a park employee told me the females have the shorter tails...the one I saw was grooming herself, and could care less about the flirting males!! You go girl!! The squirrels were so tame, they would eat from your hand.
